KIDS
summer campaign

Food insecurity rises during the summer months due to the lack of in-school meals.

Help us provide for children and families who are in need of meals during school's off season by making a generous donation to our Meals 4 Kids Summer Food Campaign.

Our campaign aims to fill the summer meal gap by providing no-cost nutritious meals, groceries, and snacks for children over the summer and support affected families throughout our eight-county service area!

Help us reach our goal:

Every $1 = 10 meals!

Make a one-time donation or a monthly one for three months.

Your donation will go a long way this summer!

Some ways your donation will help:

  • Boost our summer feeding sites that offer FREE hot meals to children all summer long.

  • Provide nutritious child-friendly food, healthy snacks and fresh veggies and fruits that children can take home and/or share with their families.

  • Provide additional assistance to partner agencies that experience a high demand for food this summer.

Summer Hunger Stats:

Did you Know?

1 of 3 children in South Texas are food-insecure.

Hispanic children are the second largest food-insecure group in America.

Many children experience hunger in silence.

Children in our South Texas communities report that at one point or another they have gone to a relative or friend's house to get a supplemental meal for them and/or siblings.

Many single-parent homes in our South Texas communities run out of food at the end of the month and rely on relatives and food pantries to make it through the month. This problem is aggravated in the summer time.

Children who experience hunger are more likely to suffer social,  behavioral problems, and self-esteem issues.

Children who experience hunger are at higher risk of developing chronic conditions as adults.

Malnutrition due to insufficient food intake is associated with lower grades, higher rates of absenteeism, repeating a grade, and an inability to focus.

Malnutrition is associated with stunting, wasting, overweight and underweight issues with children and young adults.

School is out, hunger is in!
