A food drive is an organized effort to gather food in your organization, company, school or community. The goal and range in size and duration of your food drive is up to the individual and/or organization.

By working with the South Texas Food Bank, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization, the food collected and donated will be distributed to your community and throughout the eight other counties that the food bank serves.

We invite and encourage any individual or organization can conduct a food drive or host a special event to collect food and/or funds.

Food drives are often conducted by local schools, businesses, government entities, churches, and other civic organizations food drives, not to mention individual food donations.

Many local youth clubs and/or organizations like to host special events such as rummage sales to collect food items and monetary donations in benefit of the food bank.

All collected items that are donated to the food bank, it is checked for compliance with our food safety guidelines, sorted into categories, and then distributed to our member hunger-relief agencies, also known as pantries.

If you would like or are considering the possibility of organizing a food drive any time in the near future, all you have to do is contact our Food Drive Coordinator and we will be more than glad to discuss with you the process of organizing a food drive: from setting a date(s) to establishing a collection goal to providing you with a list of preferred food products that the food bank might be in need of at that given time.
