Warehouse Custodian

DEPARTMENT:         Operations/Warehouse

SKILL-LEVEL:             Entry-level

CLASSIFICATION:    Exempt                                                          FLSA: Exempt

PAY: Starting at $12/Hour (Pay may be commensurate with experience)

Position Summary:

The Warehouse Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment. This position ensures that warehouse facilities, work areas, restrooms, offices, and surrounding grounds are clean and well-maintained to support efficient warehouse operations and provide a safe working environment for staff, volunteers, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clean and maintain warehouse floors, offices, break rooms, restrooms, and common areas.

  • Sweep, mop, scrub, and remove trash and debris from warehouse facilities.

  • Maintain cleanliness of loading docks, storage areas, and warehouse entrances.

  • Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste in designated areas.

  • Restock restroom and cleaning supplies as needed.

  • Assist with basic warehouse maintenance, including reporting maintenance or safety concerns.

  • Operate cleaning equipment and safely use cleaning chemicals according to established procedures.

  • Support warehouse staff with general facility upkeep before and after food distributions, special events, and volunteer activities.

  • Follow all South Texas Food Bank safety policies and OSHA guidelines.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Previous custodial, janitorial, warehouse maintenance, or facility maintenance experience preferred.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive bending, standing, walking, pushing, and pulling throughout the workday.

  • Ability to safely operate cleaning equipment and use cleaning supplies.

  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Commitment to the mission of the South Texas Food Bank.

  • Bilingual preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • Indoor and outdoor work environment.

  • Must be able to work full-time.

  • Must be able to work evenings and Saturdays, as needed.

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and reaching.

  • Minimal travel outside Webb County may be required.

  • Must comply with the company dress code.
