Position Summary

The Food Processing Associate supports the daily operations of the South Texas Food Bank by assisting with the receiving, sorting, inspecting, and processing of donated food products. This position helps ensure that food is handled safely, organized efficiently, and prepared for distribution to individuals and families facing food insecurity across South Texas.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with receiving, inspecting, and sorting donated food products.

• Check food items for quality, damage, and expiration or best-by dates in accordance with food safety guidelines.

• Sort, package, label, and prepare food products for storage or distribution.

• Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary work areas.

• Follow established food safety procedures and warehouse safety standards.

• Assist with inventory organization and other warehouse operations as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

• Previous warehouse, food handling, or processing experience preferred but not required.

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to work as part of a team.

• Commitment to the mission of the South Texas Food Bank.

• Bilingual preferred.

Working Conditions

• Must be able to work full-time.

• Ability to stand for extended periods and work in varying warehouse temperatures.

• Must be available for Saturday mornings, as needed.

• Must comply with workplace safety procedures and dress code requirements.
