The South Texas Food Bank is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting hunger and improving lives in an eight-county area of South Texas. We are seeking a motivated and mission-driven Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our executive team and help guide the financial health and sustainability of our growing organization.
Position Summary:
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for overseeing all aspects of the food bank’s financial strategy, planning, reporting, compliance, and risk management. The CFO ensures financial integrity and sustainability to support the organization’s mission and growth.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and analysis.

Develop and implement financial strategies to support organizational goals.

Monitor and manage cash flow, investments, and financial risk.

Oversee audits and ensure compliance with GAAP, federal/state regulations, and nonprofit best practices.

Collaborate with department heads to align budget planning with strategic priorities.

Present financial updates and recommendations to the CEO, Finance Committee, and Board of Directors.

Manage and mentor the finance team, promoting professional development and high standards of accountability.

Evaluate and oversee internal controls, policies, and procedures to ensure financial health and operational efficiency.

Coordinate with external partners such as auditors, banks, and regulatory agencies.

Support grant and donor reporting by providing accurate financial data and insights.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. REQUIRED

Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible financial management experience. REQUIRED

Nonprofit financial experience preferred, but not required.

Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and audit processes.

Proficient in accounting software (Quickbooks) and Microsoft Excel. REQUIRED

Excellent strategic thinking, analytical, and leadership skills.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work across departments and with the Board of Directors.
