Commodity Supplement Food Program

The C.S.F.P. program is a federal funded program for elderly and children. The C.S.F.P is a currently serving 7 counties and distributes about 6,800 to 7,000 bags of food each month.

In order to qualify for the C.S.F.P. program need to meet certain qualifications:

  • Be 60 years or older
  • Proof of residency
  • Proof of family income
  • Birth certificate for children who are not in WIC

PARTICIPANT AGREEMENT-RIGHTS OBLIGATIONS

Information provided for eligibility is correct
Deliberate misrepresentation may subject me to civil or criminal prosecution
A participant can appeal regarding their eligibility for the program
Participants are encourage to participate in health services and nutrition education
Participating in WIC and C.S.F.P. is not allowed for women who are pregnant, postpartum, infants and children.  This can result in being suspended or terminated form one or both programs
If a person does not pick-up for two consecutive months will be dropped from program and may re-apply
The participant may assign one or two proxies
Participant understands that the food provided is intended for the participants who are prescribed

WHAT’S IN THE BAG

The bag is 28 to 30 pounds and is provided to the participants each month containing the following:

  • Powder Milk
  • 2 boxes of cereal or a bag of oatmeal
  • 3 cans of evaporated milk
  • 6 cans of fruits or vegetables (corn, peas, vegetable beans, sliced carrots, diced tomatoes, unsweened
  • applesauce, mixed fruits, peanut butter, ect…)
  • 1 can of meat or chicken
  • 1-2 lbs bag of rice
  • 1-2 lbs bag of beans
  • 3 cans of juices
  • 2 lb bar of cheese

ATTACHED A CALENDAR OF DISTRIBUTION

A calendar of dates and hour is provided to each participant that receives commodity each month, this calendar reminds them when to go and pick up their bag.
Participants who don not pick up their commodity can come by the food bank on Saturdays form 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The CSFP program requiers us to give out health information twice a year. This information can be checking for high blood preasure, cholesterol, diabetes, glaucoma, and many other screenings.

We are also requiered to provide information on nutrition issues, food demonstrations, and recepies
