Month of May:   Laredo ISD students and employees fundraiser. Bring anaverage of $1 per student and $5 per teacher. Veronica Castillo of the public relations office is the chair.

May 1: U.S. Postal employees steak plate sale, 11 am to 2 pm at WOW Hall,5904 Springfield. Luis Palacios is the chairman.

May 6 (Thursday night): Hal’s Landing sponsors a fundraiser at Hal’sLanding, 6520 Arena Road next to Laredo Energy Arena from 8 p.m. to midnight. Local band and vocalist Lil Sister will perform. Admission $10 per person. Several raffle items to be given away, including Bucks St. Patrick Day game jersey, framed artwork by Pancho Farias, dinner for four at Hal’s,Mother’s Day gift basket and other items. Come and enjoy.

May 8: U.S. Postal employees food drive. Place your non-perishable items next to your mailbox and letter carrier will pick them up.

May 12: Board meeting, noon, at Lamar Bruni Vergara South Texas Food Bank office.

May 14: Target Store volunteer day at the food bank.

May 15: Board retreat, 8 a.m. to noon, Falcon Bank Lakehouse.

June 9: Board meeting, noon.

June 12: City wide rummage sale by teenager Zelina Ruiz at north Laredo site on Del Mar Blvd.

June 28 to July 11: Border Media-South Texas Food Bank fifth annual radio drive over the five BM stations — La Ley 100.5 FM, Hot 106.1, The Works 94.9, Digital 107.3 and Norteno 1490. Sponsorships are $1,500, $5,000 and $10,000. For donations call the food bank, 726-3120.

July 4: City of Laredo 4th of July Celebration with proceeds to food bank.

July 10: Scavenger hunt to coincide with Border Media Radio Drive.

July 14: Board meeting, noon.

July 22: Celebrity lock up for Empty Bowls at Embassy Suites.

Aug. 11: Board meeting, noon.

Aug. 16: Empty Bowls artists reception.

August 25 (Wednesday night) — The Laredo Energy Arena-South Texas Food Bank fourth annual Empty Bowls fundraiser. 6:30 p.m. The event will honorState Sen. Judith Zaffririni (D-Laredo) for her support to the STFB. The event includes a concert by 1970s music sensation Three Dog Night. 70 Floor table seating will be available at $100 per person with a minimum table seating $1,000. Table sponsorships are $20,000 diamond, $10,000 platinum, $5,000 gold, $2,500 silver and $1,000 bronze. Concert onlytickets are $32, $22 and $17.
