Eligibility Requirements/Notices
Thank you for your interest in becoming a Member Agency or a Kids Cafe Site of the South Texas Food Bank. Any organization that wants to partner with the Food Bank must meet the following requirements:
* Recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c) 3 not for profit, charitable organization.
* Program sites must be and remain in good legal standing.
* Offer services directly to the ill, needy, or children (under 18 years), free of charge and with no requirement to engage in any kind of organizational or host site activity.
* Distribute food as an emergency food box or as a meal or snack prepared on site to be consumed on the premises.
* Offer service FREE OF CHARGE TO CLIENTS. Food items and non-food products received from the food bank may not be sold. Any agency found selling food bank products might be temporarily or permanently suspended.
* Program sites treated by licensed pest control at least twice a year.
* Program sites must adhere to our Food Safety & Defense Policies. Any site found mishandling or tampering with food products will be immediately suspended.
* Program sites will be required to submit a monthly food distribution report.
* Background checks might be required, especially sites that work with children.
* Adhere to our non-discrimination policy.
* Complete a four part application process:
If you feel your organization would like to apply, please complete Part I of the pre-application process. The four part application process takes 4-6 weeks and includes two visits to your home office and sites where you provide your services.
Special Considerations
Any organization interested in becoming a partner agency, should consider having a business or management plan that outlines program sustainability (I.e. Source of revenue and support). The food bank's Development Department may be able to provide assistance in locating potential funding sources.
The current shared maintenance fee is of $0.18/pound of food ordered.

- Part I: Complete the pre-application form and mail/fax it to Food Bank with all required documents on the check list.
- Part II: After we receive this form with all required documents, and the Agency Relations Coordinator will contact you to schedule a site visit and deliver an application.
- Part III: Return your completed application to the Food Bank and will contact you soon.
- Part IV: After we receive your application, the Agency Relations Coordinator will contact you to schedule a second site visit and invite you to orientation.
